According to British media Talksport, Newcastle once again considers introducing Crystal Palace defender Gee. Last summer, Newcastle tried to sign the England international for a transfer fee of £60 million but failed. At that time, Crystal Palace insisted on asking for £70 million and eventually retained their captain. Last season, Guy helped the team win the FA Cup.

Now, Newcastle is willing to pay a transfer fee of up to 40 million pounds for the 25-year-old Guy and may postpone the transaction until the later stage of the transfer window, while Crystal Palace requires a transfer fee of 50 million pounds. Although Liverpool are interested in Guy, they are reluctant to pay such a high fee with only one year left in his contract.

In June this year, Talksport reported that Guy was willing to fulfill his contract at Crystal Palace and then leave the team as a free agent next summer. Tottenham, Barcelona and Bayern are also paying close attention to the England international, hoping to sign him when he becomes a free agent.

Gei joined Crystal Palace from Chelsea in 2021 with a transfer fee of £18 million, which is the fourth most expensive signing in Crystal Palace history. He made 155 appearances for Crystal Palace in four seasons and captained the FA Cup final in May.

For Newcastle, signing Guy will be a big reinforcement for their summer transfer window, because they have missed several target players such as Mbemo, Joao Pedro, Ekitic and Liam Delapp. Elanga joined Newcastle from Nottingham Forest for £55 million, and Newcastle then loaned Ramsdale from Southampton. However, the future of top scorer Isaac is still undecided, with Liverpool bidding 110 million pounds to buy him last week but was rejected by Newcastle. If Newcastle can retain Isaac or sign Sesco of Leipzig, coupled with Guy's joining, their lineup will be further strengthened.
