TA: Bournemouth is negotiating with Chelsea for signing goalkeeper Petrovic
Bornemouth is negotiating with Chelsea for signing goalkeeper Petrovic. The report said that Bournemouth is in-depth negotiations with Chelsea on signing Petrovic. Although the agreement has not yet been reached, Bournemouth is seeking to sign a new No. 1 goalkeeper, so optimism is growing about a deal as Kepa returns to Chelsea and is subsequently sold to Arsenal.
Petrovic has been allowed to find a club for himself in the next month, and Chelsea reportedly reached a gentleman agreement with the 25-year-old in July that players can leave the team with a transfer fee of about £25 million.
The goalkeeper wants guaranteed for the starting position and Chelsea cannot promise him that, so he has been exploring other options. The report also stated that Chelsea is still negotiating the sale of left-back Samuels Smith to Strasbourg for £8 million. The 19-year-old joined the Blues from Everton for £4 million in 2023, but has not yet made a debut in the first team.
Petrovic was not selected for Chelsea's Club World Cup squad, but he still attracted interest from five clubs in the Premier League and other European Leagues. Petrovic was loaned to Strasbourg last season. He made 10 clean sheets in total 31 appearances and was also selected as the best player of the season voted by fans.
