Bornemouth officially announced that midfielder Cook suffered a medial collateral ligament injury in a friendly match, but no surgery was required.
Bournemouth official wrote: "The club confirmed that Lewis Cook was injured in a pre-season friendly against Bristol City last weekend, injuring the medial collateral ligament. The midfielder does not need surgery but will miss the opening stage of the 2025/26 season."
"Cook will start his recovery period in Chicago with the rest of the team and will receive full support from the club's medical team throughout the recovery process."
