Legend Lee Sharp believes Manchester United needs to find unique players like Cantona.

Lee Sharp, who played for eight years at Manchester United, has played alongside some of the world's top players, but few can compare to Eric Cantona. The Frenchman, considered the catalyst for the subsequent amazing success of the Red Devils, knew his importance and was treated differently as a result.

Sharp said in an interview with Razed: "He is not just a coach's darling, but to some extent he's like a long-lost son to Sir Ferguson. Eric was treated completely differently in the locker room, something happened in the locker room, but the coach always supported Eric and never said bad things about him. It's incredible, but it's also interesting. We're happy about it because at the end of the day Eric is phenomenal." Cantona was able to be so tolerant because of his extraordinary talent on the court, but his hot character can sometimes cause problems, most notably his famous Kung Fu fly kick in front of Crystal Palace fans.

Sharp continued: "If it were someone else, they would be fired immediately after the game. And for Eric, the coach hugged him and comforted him and said 'Don't worry, we will take care of you'. They did, and let him return to the team, and he performed very well. To be fair, Ferguson and Eric did a great job. He changed the Premier League."

This unshakable spirit, a nearly arrogant confidence, but balanced by the ultimate talent, is exactly what Sharp thinks Manchester United needs now. Former winger Sharp believes that Aston Villa goalkeeper Martinez has this trait and he has been widely contacted to Old Trafford.

Sharp: "When I talk about goalkeepers like Martinez, he has a sense of confidence. Players like Ibrahimovic and Rooney also have this ultimate attitude of victory, with a sense of arrogance and confidence, and this temperament will penetrate the entire team. Each team needs one or two such people. If more than two, it may cause some conflict, but if there are those one or two, you will find that the level of other players will also improve accordingly."
