Gittens: I just want to win the Blues to win the important championship and contribute my strength to the team
Gittens transfers to Chelsea from Dortmund for 56 million euros this summer. Recently, Gittens was interviewed by Chelsea’s official website, and he talked about his integration with the Blues, as well as his goals and vision.
■About joining Chelsea during the Club World Cup, "It feels good to be with the team during the Club World Cup, communicate with everyone, and get to know the players and staff. I think this is very important so that I can integrate into everyone earlier. This also makes my adaptation period smoother during formal training."
■Gittens's summer vacation is not long, and he even took the initiative to shorten the holidays to ensure that he is ready for the first season of his Blues career.
"After the Club World Cup, I went to the Algarve, Portugal to train, where I trained for ten or eleven days with my personal coach, in order to make some extra preparations to keep myself healthy, sharp and ready to play for Chelsea. I did a lot of fitness and field training, so it worked very well."
■The extra training and contact with the team during the Club World Cup made Gittens feel ready on the first day of pre-season training.
Gittens said: "Everything is good, I'm happy with everyone, training is competitive, I enjoy it. Everyone at Chelsea is great, I only have a positive review of the club. The facilities here are great - the training ground, the gym, the wellness area, everything is very modern. I adapted to it easily."
■ Last Friday night, Gittens made his debut in the Blues' jersey, playing for the last third of the time in the 2-0 victory over Leverkusen.
"Everyone was happy to return to the team, we worked together on the training ground. The process was enjoying it, we had laughs and jokes, but more importantly, we were training hard. Everything was great so far."
"To be honest, I feel very adapted. I have talked to everyone, and the people here are great, they are all good people. Everyone is young, with similar interests off the court, and it is easy to communicate."
■What can I bring to Chelsea?
"First of all, I would say that I am a competitor, I want to win, which is the most important thing. In addition, I am very creative, dare to break through directly, skilled, and like to score goals."
■ Finally, when talking about his goal in the Blues, "I just want to win for Chelsea and compete for those important championships, which is the most important thing. Personally, I want to improve myself, learn from everyone, and contribute my own strength to the team."
