When we walk our dogs, if we notice carefully, we can often find that dogs have the habit of digging holes. The grass will be dug by them into holes. Some dogs even dig holes on the floor at home. Do you know why dogs dig holes? Let’s take a look

1. Cooling

In the hot summer, the temperature of the underground land will be much lower. The moist soil can take away the temperature of the dog and help the dog lower its body temperature, so the dog likes to dig holes in the summer.

2. Vent excess energy

If the dog lacks exercise, when the energy is too strong, it will vent its excess energy by digging holes, demolishing homes, etc. If the owner does not want the dog to dig holes, he or she should take the dog out for a walk or play with the dog more often, so that the dog can burn off excess energy through exercise, which is also good for the dog's health.

3. Buried food

Because dogs lived in the wild before and did not necessarily have food every day, so they would bury uneaten food and dig it out when they are hungry. This is their nature.

4. Grinding the claws

If the dog’s nails are too long and the dog feels uncomfortable, it is easy to grind the nails by digging holes. Therefore, owners should pay more attention to their dog's nails. If they find that their nails are too long, they need to use pet nail clippers to trim them.
